Maharashtra Congress Criticizes CM Fadnavis After Election Victory in Nagpur
Maharashtra Congress targets CM Fadnavis following a significant election win in Nagpur, highlighting social media missteps and political challenges.

Nagpur, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) launched a sharp critique of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis following their recent victory in the Nagpur graduate constituency elections. The Congress successfully retained the seat after a lengthy counting process that lasted over 45 hours. Congress candidate Abhijit Wanjari defeated BJP’s Sudhakar Kohale by a margin of 3,271 votes, securing 67,231 votes against Kohale’s 63,960.
This defeat is seen as a significant setback for the BJP, particularly since Nagpur is regarded as a stronghold for both Fadnavis and Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, who actively campaigned for the BJP candidate.
In the wake of early trends, Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to social media to mock the Congress party, sharing a post that highlighted their lack of wins in the state council elections. Fadnavis echoed this sentiment, ridiculing Congress’s performance. However, once the final results favored Congress, Fadnavis quickly deleted his post.
Reacting to this incident, the Maharashtra Congress utilized the social media platform X to poke fun at Fadnavis. They stated, “By deleting his post, Fadnavis has once again reiterated Savarkar’s legacy. He hastily posted a jab before the final results, only to have it backfire on him. Ultimately, he was forced to delete it.”
The party also issued a stern warning: “Fadnavis, are you scared already? This is just a trailer! In 2029, the people of Maharashtra will dismantle your political power so thoroughly that you’ll remember today’s post. Good luck, Fadnavis! Get ready for the next shock.”
This political controversy has led Congress to retaliate against Prime Minister Modi, who questioned how many seats Congress won in the elections for 28 council seats across Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, and Karnataka. Senior Congress leader and MP Pawan Khera directly challenged Modi, suggesting that if he is confident that electronic voting machines (EVMs) do not affect election results, he should conduct the upcoming Lok Sabha and assembly elections using paper ballots to prove the BJP’s electoral strength.
Additionally, Congress reiterated its demands to halt the controversial Special Intensive Revision (SIR) program concerning the voter list, restore the 13 million voters allegedly removed through irregular procedures, and take action against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar.
