Swami Ramdev Calls for Purification of Sanatan Texts to Restore Indias Spiritual Essence
Swami Ramdev announces a major initiative to purify Sanatan texts, aiming to eliminate historical distortions and misinterpretations.

Haridwar, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Yoga guru Swami Ramdev has announced a significant initiative aimed at purifying Sanatan texts. Speaking in Haridwar, he stated that alongside the Vedas, other Sanatan scriptures will be cleansed of distortions introduced during the Mughal and British eras. A large committee of scholars, including Shankaracharyas and religious leaders from various sects, will be formed at Patanjali Yogpeeth to remove inaccuracies in texts such as the Smritis, Puranas, Ramayana, and Mahabharata.
Ramdev emphasized the need to address misconceptions propagated by those who lack a comprehensive understanding of Sanatan philosophy. He asserted that the purest form of Sanatan will be presented to the world. “The essence of Sanatan is eternal and empowers us to confront contemporary challenges,” he said. He believes that this initiative will help build a developed and prosperous India, grounded in its cultural and scientific heritage.
The yoga guru also criticized the notion of caste divisions, stating that the Vedas do not endorse any hierarchy among humans. He noted that the true essence of Sanatan philosophy encompasses all beings and deities, transcending any social divisions.
To facilitate this purification process, a significant committee will be established, comprising prominent religious leaders and scholars. Their task will be to identify and rectify any interpolations found in various texts. Ramdev pointed out that even in cases where no alterations have occurred, misleading interpretations have tarnished the image of Sanatan teachings.
He called for a decisive meeting at Patanjali University, where religious leaders and scholars will unite to address these issues. Ramdev urged all Indians to rise above caste and religious divisions to strengthen the nation. He encouraged citizens to focus on elevating India’s global standing through advancements in economy, science, and military strength, rather than being mired in divisive politics.
The yoga guru concluded by asserting that India’s dignity and reputation must be established worldwide. He warned that without unity, external threats from nations like the United States and China could undermine India’s position. Ramdev implored every Indian to embrace a collective identity, stating, “I am India, I am the democracy of India, I am the Constitution of India,” emphasizing that the nation’s progress should take precedence over individual aspirations.
