Uttar Pradesh Government Ensures 24-Hour Power Supply During Festivals

The UP government guarantees uninterrupted power supply for Diwali and Chhath festivals, ensuring a festive atmosphere for residents.

Lucknow, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Uttar Pradesh government, under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, is ramping up efforts to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the upcoming Diwali and Chhath festivals.

Urban Development and Energy Minister Arvind Kumar Sharma has directed electrical department officials to guarantee 24-hour power availability throughout the state during these celebrations. He emphasized that Diwali, known as the festival of lights, should not be marred by unnecessary power shutdowns or frequent outages.

Sharma also instructed that consumers’ connections should not be cut due to outstanding dues during the festive season. He called for strict action against large-scale electricity thieves while ensuring that smaller consumers are not unduly harassed.

The Energy Minister urged officials to expedite the processing of pending electrical connection applications on the quick portal and to review canceled applications to improve service. He stressed that regular bill payers should not suffer from power tripping and outages caused by defaulters, and where necessary, transformer capacities should be expanded immediately.

Sharma congratulated consumers on a 9.70 percent relief in November electricity bills, which will benefit residential and commercial users for the fifth consecutive month. While reviewing the power supply in newly formed urban municipalities, he insisted on providing uninterrupted and quality electricity akin to that in headquarters. He noted that the Urban Development Department is ready to allocate additional budgets as needed to enhance the power infrastructure swiftly.
