Dehradun, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : The Writer’s Village International Festival 2026 wrapped up on October 29 in Dehradun, with Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasizing the event’s significance in promoting literature, art, and music.
During the closing ceremony, Dhami reflected on the legacy of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, who played a pivotal role in the establishment of Uttarakhand. He described Vajpayee as a master of words, channeling the spirit of creativity akin to the strength of mountains and the depth of the Ganges. Dhami suggested that if Vajpayee were present today, he would have been delighted to witness the vision of Writer’s Village come to life.
The Chief Minister stated that the concept of Writer’s Village transcends mere physical structures. It represents ideas that guide society and inspire future generations to forge ahead in the right direction. He described Writer’s Village as a sanctuary for thoughts, where words take root and culture shapes identity.
In a region rich in cultural heritage like Uttarakhand, the Writer’s Village provides a platform for local artists, talents, and writers while also positioning the state on the global literary map. The festival aims to connect future generations with their roots, guiding them on their paths forward. Thus, the conclusion of this international festival marks not just an end but the beginning of a new journey in creativity.
Dhami also noted the involvement of over 60 countries in the festival, highlighting the participation of various international representatives. The five-day event featured numerous programs where participants shared their insights on literature and art, showcasing contributions from scholars both from India and around the world.
