Bihars Development Accelerated by Scientific Innovation, Says Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary

Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary emphasizes the role of space technology and innovation in Bihars development at a recent workshop.

Patna, October 29 (Daily Kiran) : Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary stated on Thursday that space-based technology, remote sensing, and scientific innovation are crucial for accelerating the state’s development and enhancing governance. He urged scientists and technical experts to develop practical applications tailored to Bihar’s needs, benefiting the public, farmers, and administrative systems.

Chaudhary made these remarks while addressing the two-day ‘Space Application Adoption Workshop-2026’ at the Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna. The workshop’s theme is “Empowering Governance through Space-Based Solutions for Progressive Bihar.” During the event, he launched the ‘TechConnect’ portal and facilitated a memorandum of understanding between the Bihar Remote Sensing Application Center (BIRSAC) and the Survey of India (SOI). These initiatives aim to enhance technical collaboration and make development plans more effective through space-based applications.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of prioritizing science, technology, and innovation to fulfill Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a developed India by 2047 and former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s goal of a prosperous Bihar. He noted that Bihar has historically been a land of knowledge and education. By connecting the legacies of Aryabhata and Chanakya with modern scientific thinking, the state can reach new heights of development.

Chaudhary pointed out that modern technology is essential for transforming challenges into opportunities. Flooding in many areas of the state is exacerbated by water flow from Nepal, Madhya Pradesh, and Uttar Pradesh. Remote sensing and scientific data can significantly improve flood monitoring, water management, agricultural planning, and the implementation of development projects.

He also highlighted that despite a 32% reduction in rainfall, the water levels of rivers like the Ganges, Son, and Gandak are affected by incoming water. In such circumstances, scientific forecasting, continuous monitoring of water levels, and coordinated water management become critical. He stressed the need for effective measures to ensure the year-round use of Ganges water for drinking and irrigation.

The Chief Minister reiterated the state government’s commitment to making technical education accessible. He noted that a fee structure of just 10 rupees in engineering colleges and five rupees in polytechnic colleges provides youth with opportunities for technical education. Additionally, he mentioned plans to develop 12 new townships inspired by historical heritage, emphasizing the utility of modern technology in planned urban development. He called for increased coordination among relevant departments and technical institutions to align innovations with public interests. The event was attended by Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, Minister of Science, Technology, and Technical Education Sheela Kumari, and other officials and experts.
