Madhya Pradesh: Jitu Patwari Questions CM Mohan Yadav on Department Change for Lakhan Patel

Bhopal, July 16: In Madhya Pradesh, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav has reassigned Lakhan Patel from the Animal Husbandry Department to the newly created Anand Department. In response to this change, Congress state president Jitu Patwari has written to CM Yadav, questioning whether this departmental shift will lead to any systemic changes.

Patwari emphasized in his letter that while the authority to change departments lies with the Chief Minister in a democracy, the public is keen to know if this change will result in improved governance. He pointed out that there are several departments directly under the Chief Minister’s purview, which have not met public expectations. With the Animal Husbandry Department now under Yadav, farmers, livestock owners, and cow devotees are left wondering if this department’s future will mirror that of the others.

The Congress leader accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of neglecting the welfare of cattle in Madhya Pradesh, despite having used the cow as a significant political symbol for years. He highlighted ongoing issues in the state’s gaushalas (cow shelters), including shortages of fodder, water, medical care, and resources.

Furthermore, Patwari noted that livestock farming, which could provide additional income for farmers, is becoming increasingly unviable due to rising costs, expensive fodder, and inadequate government support. He expressed concern over the daily funds allocated for cow fodder in gaushalas and the fatalities resulting from road accidents involving cattle.

CM Mohan Yadav’s recent cabinet reshuffle aims not only at economic development but also at enhancing the mental, social, and emotional well-being of the people. Notably, Madhya Pradesh was the first state in India to establish an Anand Department.
