Madhya Pradesh Government Approves Name Change for Animal Husbandry Department

Bhopal, March 18: The cabinet of Madhya Pradesh, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has approved a name change for the Animal Husbandry Department. In a cabinet meeting, the department’s name will now be revised to the Cow Rearing and Animal Husbandry Department.

Additionally, the council has sanctioned ₹4,525 crores for various development and maintenance projects under the Public Works Department across the state. It was also decided that farmers will receive a bonus of ₹40 per quintal on wheat procured at the support price during the Rabi marketing year 2026-27.

The cabinet has approved ₹945.20 crores for the construction of a four-lane elevated corridor from Chimanganj Mandi to Indore Gate in Ujjain and a two-lane elevated corridor from the exit roundabout to Indore Gate.

Furthermore, ₹228.42 crores have been allocated for the Panwar Micro Irrigation Project in Rewa. The cabinet has decided that any surplus wheat not accepted by the Government of India will be disposed of through an open tender by the Madhya Pradesh State Civil Supplies Corporation, with the state government covering the associated costs.

The payment of the bonus to farmers will be facilitated through budget provisions, and the expenses related to the disposal of surplus wheat will be reimbursed from the budget allocated under the Chief Minister’s Agricultural Crop Procurement Assistance Scheme.

The cabinet has granted administrative approval for the ₹228 crore Panwar Micro Irrigation Project, which will benefit 37 villages in the Jawa and Tyothar tehsils of Rewa district.
