Indore, September 19 (Daily Kiran) : Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav took aim at the Congress party’s record on education and development during a recent visit from opposition leader Rahul Gandhi. Gandhi arrived in Indore on Saturday to participate in the Congress’s “Students’ Voice” program, which aims to engage with students on pressing issues.
Yadav highlighted that Congress has governed Madhya Pradesh for an extended period but failed to make significant strides in education and development. He pointed out that the budget presented during their tenure reflects this inadequacy, contrasting it with the current government’s budget of ₹4.38 lakh crore. “Today, Rahul Gandhi questions our education system and the future of our students,” Yadav said.
The Chief Minister noted that the state’s budget has significantly increased over the years. He compared the current budget to the mere ₹22,000 crore allocated during Congress’s 55 years in power.
Yadav also expanded the political discourse by questioning Congress’s stance on women’s participation and the “Nari Vandan Adhiniyam.” He stated that the youth are raising these issues and that Congress must clarify its position. “In Karnataka, where Congress is in power, there isn’t a single woman minister in the cabinet. People are watching, and they will demand answers when the time comes,” he added.
These remarks came shortly after Gandhi’s arrival in Indore, where he was scheduled to interact with students. The “Students’ Voice” program is designed to address critical topics such as education, recruitment, and employment opportunities.
Gandhi is expected to listen to students’ concerns about their future and the opportunities available to them. However, his visit has sparked controversy, particularly regarding posters targeting the event and security measures enforced by the police.
This series of events has infused a political dimension into the Congress leader’s initiative to connect with students. Former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh welcomed Gandhi at the airport, as the party attempts to frame the “Students’ Voice” program as a direct dialogue platform with the youth. In response, the BJP-led state government has highlighted budget allocations and questioned Congress’s previous governance in Madhya Pradesh.
