Saudi-led Coalition Launches Major Campaign Against Houthi Forces in Yemen

The Saudi-led coalition claims to have targeted vital Houthi resources in a significant military operation in Yemen.

Riyadh, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : The Saudi-led coalition in Yemen has announced the initiation of a significant military campaign aimed at neutralizing crucial resources of the Houthi group. This operation was confirmed by coalition spokesman Turki al-Maliki on social media platform X on Sunday.

Al-Maliki stated that the campaign commenced early Sunday morning. It was a direct response to ongoing Houthi attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure in both Saudi Arabia and Yemen. He emphasized that the Houthis have been utilizing these resources to bolster their military capabilities, particularly in their ballistic missile and drone programs.

However, al-Maliki did not provide specific details regarding the location of the operation or its outcomes, according to the news agency Xinhua.

In a related incident, local residents and a security official reported that a Houthi missile struck near a government military base in the southern port city of Aden. The explosion was described as powerful, with its sound echoing across several neighborhoods. The missile landed in the Al-Burayqa district of western Aden, where the Saudi-backed Yemeni government forces are stationed. Fortunately, there were no reports of casualties.

Aden serves as the temporary headquarters for Yemen’s internationally recognized government and has recently been targeted by a series of missile and drone attacks from Houthi rebels.

Yemen has been embroiled in conflict since late 2014, when Houthi forces seized control of the capital, Sanaa, and large parts of northern Yemen. This led to the Saudi-led coalition’s intervention in 2015 to support the Yemeni government.

Last week, al-Maliki reported on X that a drone sent by the Houthi group was intercepted and destroyed in the Mecca region, which is the holiest city in Islam.

In response, the Houthi group has denied any allegations of conducting attacks against Saudi Arabia. Military spokesman Yahya Saria dismissed the coalition’s claims regarding the drone incident over Mecca as “false,” asserting that their group did not launch any operations toward Saudi territory on that day.
