Arsenal Tops Premier League After Narrow Victory Over Liverpool; Chelsea Defeats Manchester United
Arsenal claims the Premier League top spot with a 1-0 win over Liverpool, while Chelsea secures a 2-0 victory against Manchester United.

London, November 2 (Daily Kiran) : Arsenal has ascended to the top of the Premier League standings after a narrow 1-0 victory against Liverpool on November 2, 2026. The decisive goal was scored by Kai Havertz in the 16th minute, thanks to an accurate pass from Declan Rice.
Despite Liverpool’s efforts to equalize, they were unable to break through Arsenal’s disciplined defense, managing over 15 shots without success. Meanwhile, Manchester City faced their second consecutive defeat, losing 1-0 at home to Brighton. A mistake by Matheus Nunes during a clearance allowed Yasin Ayari to score in the 11th minute.
As a result, Manchester City now trails Arsenal by three points, sitting in second place. Michael Carrick’s struggles continued at Manchester United, as his team suffered a 2-0 defeat against Chelsea. Although United had a decent first half, they fell behind in the 50th minute due to a stunning individual goal from Morgan Rogers.
Things worsened for United when Lisandro Martinez received a second yellow card, resulting in a red card and a penalty. Cole Palmer converted the penalty in the 64th minute, extending Chelsea’s lead to 2-0. This loss marked the first time since 1988 that Carrick’s side has failed to secure a win for an extended period.
Nottingham Forest’s coach Oliver Glasner remained defiant despite a 2-0 loss to Brentford. A defensive error by Nikola Milenkovic, who scored an own goal from a low cross by Dango Ouattara, set the tone for the match. Igor Thiago added a second goal in the 76th minute.
In a post-match press conference, Glasner stated, “There’s no need for anyone to feel sorry for me. If I wanted to, I could start working elsewhere in two weeks.” His team currently sits second from the bottom in the standings. Sunderland remains at the bottom after a 3-1 loss to Coventry City, with goals from Tatsuhito Sakamoto, Taiwo Awoniyi, and Jack Rudoni sealing their fate, despite Enzo Le Fee converting a penalty in the 67th minute.
Bournemouth secured a 2-0 victory over Leeds United at home, thanks to goals from Ivanilson and Amin Adli in stoppage time. Tottenham also triumphed at home against Crystal Palace, winning 2-0 with goals from Archie Gray and Jan Paul van Hecke. Palace’s Jean-Philippe Mateta was sent off in the 13th minute for a dangerous tackle.
Aston Villa’s Nicholas Jackson opened the scoring in the 39th minute, but a subsequent own goal by Villa’s goalkeeper, Zayon Suzuki, allowed Fulham to earn a point at Villa Park. Hull City and Ipswich Town played to a 2-2 draw, maintaining Hull’s unbeaten record at home.
