Bhopal: The Madhya Pradesh cabinet, led by Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, has taken a significant decision regarding the displaced families of the Sardar Sarovar project. The residential plots allotted to these displaced persons will now have free registration.
The cabinet meeting held on Tuesday approved the waiver of registration fees for the plots allocated to the displaced people of the Narmada Valley’s Sardar Sarovar project. According to the standard operating procedure, the Narmada Valley Development Authority will reimburse the due registration fees and stamp duty. This move will benefit more than 25,600 families.
The decision will impose a financial burden of around ₹600 crore on the state government. In the same meeting, the cabinet also sanctioned ₹620.65 crore for two irrigation projects in Maihar and Katni districts.
Approval was given for the Dhanvahi Micro Pressure Irrigation Project in Maihar and Katni, with a cost of ₹53.73 crore. This project will provide irrigation facilities over 3,500 hectares and benefit 2,810 farmers across nine villages in the two districts.
Additionally, the Barhi Micro Lift Irrigation Project in Katni district was approved with a cost of ₹566.92 crore. This project will benefit 11,500 farmers in 27 villages of Barhi and Vijayraghavgarh tehsils and provide irrigation over 20,000 hectares.
The cabinet also approved funding exceeding ₹15,009 crore for the continuation of ten schemes across six departments from 2026-27 to 2030-31. These include:
– ₹115.06 crore for eight public finance schemes under the Finance Department, each costing less than ₹500 crore.
– ₹5,000 crore for the Chief Minister’s Jan Kalyan (Sambal 2.0) scheme under the Labour Department.
– ₹3,376.66 crore for the Assembly Constituency Election Scheme and establishment plans under the Planning, Economics, and Statistics Department.
– ₹6,472.18 crore for the Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Kamdhenu scheme, Veterinary Science University block grant, and animal husbandry, development, and cow conservation schemes under the Animal Husbandry and Dairy Department.
– ₹24.70 crore for the Adolescent Welfare Fund Scheme and assistance for victims of domestic violence under the Women and Child Development Department.
– ₹21 crore for the Minority Self-Employment Scheme under Backward Classes and Other Welfare.
The cabinet also approved the dissolution of the Madhya Pradesh State Social Welfare Board and the integration of its employees into the Women and Child Development Department.
