Madurai, September 16 (Daily Kiran) : Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay extended his warm wishes to the public and devotees on the occasion of the Mahakumbhabhishekam (grand consecration and reinstallation) at the historic Arulmigu Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai. This grand religious event, taking place after 17 years, symbolizes the magnificence of Tamil spirituality, culture, and architectural heritage.
In a post on the social media platform X, Chief Minister Vijay expressed his joy over the celebration of the Mahakumbhabhishekam festival, which narrates the glory of Tamil spirituality, art, culture, architecture, and craftsmanship. He emphasized that this auspicious occasion aims to showcase the divine identity of Tamil culture to the world and highlight the spiritual and historical legacy of the region. He wished for divine blessings to bring health, prosperity, and happiness to all.
The Chief Minister also urged the public to preserve ancient temples and their historical heritage, ensuring that their spiritual and cultural significance is passed down to future generations.
Preparations for the Mahakumbhabhishekam, scheduled for Thursday, have been completed in Madurai. Anticipating the arrival of millions of devotees, the Tamil Nadu government has declared a local holiday in Madurai district.
The district administration, Madurai Corporation, temple management, and police have coordinated special arrangements for darshan, traffic, security, sanitation, health services, and crowd management. Seven different routes have been established for devotees to enter based on color-coded passes, with barricades and directional signs placed at key locations.
An integrated control room set up at Puthu Mandapam will monitor the temple and surrounding areas through LED screens. To enhance security, 241 new CCTV cameras have been installed, along with facial recognition cameras at 70 locations.
