Mumbai, June 21: Renowned actress Madhubala recently shared an intriguing insight about her film ‘Pehchaan.’ Released in 1993, this action-drama initially attracted several prominent actresses, including Karisma Kapoor, who ultimately declined the role.
In an interview, Madhubala expressed that learning about the rejections from major actresses only fueled her enthusiasm to take on the character. She acknowledged that she might not have been the first choice for the role. The filmmakers had approached various actresses, but all turned it down, leading to Madhubala being offered the part.
She stated, “The more I learned about the big actresses who rejected this role, the more my conviction grew that I should do this film. I am proud to be a part of it.”
When asked about the actresses who declined, she confirmed that Karisma Kapoor was among them. However, she admitted that she did not have complete information on the other actresses, but mentioned that 2-3 had also turned down the opportunity.
Directed by Deepak Shivdasani, ‘Pehchaan’ featured notable performances from Suniel Shetty, Saif Ali Khan, Shilpa Shirodkar, and Madhubala herself. The film was produced by A.K. Abdul and Jeevat A.T., with cinematography by Thomas A. Javier and editing by A. Muthu. The music was composed by Anand-Milind, and the film hit theaters on October 8, 1993.
Madhubala began her Hindi film career in 1991 alongside Ajay Devgn in ‘Phool Aur Kaante.’ She later gained recognition through successful films like ‘Roja,’ ‘Allari Priyudu,’ ‘Yoddha,’ and ‘Gentleman.’
