CJP Leaders Criticize Detention Over Flag Display in New Delhi
CJP leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka face judicial custody for flag display, raising concerns about freedom of expression.

New Delhi, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Abhijit Dipke, founder of the Cockroach People’s Party (CJP), has strongly criticized the judicial custody of party leaders Saurav Das and Ashutosh Ranka. He accused the NDA government, led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, of treating the display of the national flag as a crime.
Dipke questioned, “Is it a crime to wave the tricolor in this country? Why were Ashutosh and Saurav sent to jail for five days? They raised the flag at Jantar Mantar. This is a sign of dictatorship. Such actions were last seen during British rule, when freedom fighters were jailed for displaying the tricolor.”
Reports indicate that both CJP leaders are currently being held in separate cells at Tihar Jail. Sources revealed that Saurav Das is in Jail Number 2, while Ashutosh Ranka is in Jail Number 4.
The leaders were placed in judicial custody for five days following their alleged unauthorized entry at Jantar Mantar. A third CJP member, Ajinkya Shinde, was released on bail.
Their attorney, Abhisht Hel, confirmed that the two leaders are in judicial custody. The trio was taken into preventive custody for entering Jantar Mantar, which has been removed as a designated protest site. They face charges of unauthorized entry, violating bail conditions, and obstructing government officials in their duties.
On Wednesday morning, they were presented before a magistrate at the Temple Marg in New Delhi.
