Greater Noida Gears Up for Diwali with Enhanced Lighting Initiatives

Greater Noida is set to illuminate for Diwali, improving lighting at entrances, roundabouts, and parks across the city.

Greater Noida, October 14 (Daily Kiran) : Preparations are underway in Greater Noida to brighten the city for the upcoming Diwali festival. All city entrances and key roundabouts will be illuminated, alongside improved lighting in various sectors, villages, and parks. The Greater Noida Authority has expedited efforts in this regard.

Prerna Singh, the Additional Chief Executive Officer (ACEO) of the authority, held a review meeting with officials from the electrical engineering department. She emphasized the need to install and activate streetlights ahead of the festival. All essential tasks related to lighting must be completed on a priority basis before Diwali.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the progress of streetlight installations on major roads, entrances, roundabouts, and various sectors. Singh instructed that all designated locations should have lights installed and functioning to ensure adequate illumination throughout the city. Special attention will also be given to enhancing lighting in rural areas.

The authority is currently working on installing streetlights in 17 villages, including Tilpatta, Kulesra, Chapraula, and Khodna Khurd. Singh directed that the installation be completed and operational before Diwali to improve nighttime visibility in these regions. Additionally, streetlights will be added in parks across sectors such as Sector-2, Sector-3, and Sector-12, focusing on enhancing lighting in both public spaces and residential areas.

The meeting also addressed the construction progress of two 33 kV power stations in Badalpur and Astoli, which still have six months left in their scheduled completion. Despite this timeline, Singh urged officials to accelerate construction efforts and aim for early completion. These power stations will significantly improve electricity supply in the surrounding areas, addressing the increasing demand for power infrastructure.

The review included discussions on electrical works related to six percent of population plots allocated to farmers. Singh instructed that all outstanding electrical work in these plots be completed by November. Ongoing projects involve several villages, including Khairpur, Khodna Khurd, Patwadi, Choti Milak, and Iteda. Officials were directed to finish these tasks within the stipulated timeframe to ensure necessary electrical facilities are available.

Singh also mandated that the tender process for proposed projects be completed on schedule to initiate construction promptly. She stressed the importance of monitoring progress and adhering to timelines for all projects. The meeting included senior managers from the drainage and electrical engineering departments, along with other officials.
