Macron Speaks Hindi to Bid Farewell to PM Modi During Paris Visit

Paris, June 19: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has concluded his successful visit to France and Slovakia and is now en route back to New Delhi. During this visit, French President Emmanuel Macron shared a special farewell message for PM Modi in Hindi. He referred to Modi as his “dear friend” and expressed hopes for the enduring friendship between India and France.

Late at night, Macron posted a video on the social media platform ‘X’, stating in Hindi, “Dear friend Narendra, I am very happy that you are in Nice, Evian, or Paris. It gives me great joy to welcome you here. May the friendship between India and France endure.”

After delivering his message, Macron added, “I hope I said it correctly.”

In his message, Macron further expressed, “My dear Prime Minister, I want to thank you for your friendship. France loves you. I am delighted that you are here with so many friends before returning to Delhi. I will come to meet you next February. You are my true friend. Take care.”

Earlier, while concluding his visit to France, PM Modi stated that the friendship between India and France would strengthen in the future. He expressed gratitude for the warm welcome he received from President Macron, the French government, and the people of France. In a post on ‘X’, he wrote, “I am particularly grateful for the affection and warm welcome extended to me. The friendship between India and France will only grow stronger.”

PM Modi noted, “This trip to France has been significant in terms of discussions and outcomes. It began with the ‘India Innovates’ program in Nice, followed by the G-7 summit in Evian, and then a visit to Paris, where I addressed the ‘VivaTech 2026’ event and a major Indian community gathering, as well as met with several CEOs.”

PM Modi arrived in France at the invitation of President Emmanuel Macron on Saturday. He visited Nice from June 13 to 14, participating in various events. Subsequently, he attended the G-7 summit held in Evian on June 16-17, where he engaged in discussions with leaders from G-7 countries, invited partner nations, and representatives from international organizations.

In the final phase of his trip, PM Modi arrived in Paris on June 18 for further bilateral talks. During the G-7 summit in Evian, he also met with the President of the United States. In Paris, he participated in Europe’s largest technology and startup event, the ‘VivaTech’ summit, and addressed members of the Indian community.

According to Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, PM Modi’s successful visit has provided new momentum to the India-France special global strategic partnership. This trip has infused new energy into the India-France partnership, strengthened commitments to cooperation across various sectors, and deepened bilateral relations.
