LSG Coaches Gift Jerseys to Ground Staff Ahead of IPL 2026

New Delhi, March 17: The 19th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is set to kick off on March 28. Ahead of the upcoming season, Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) head coach Justin Langer and cricket director Tom Moody presented jerseys to the ground staff on Tuesday at their home ground, the Bharat Ratna Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Ekana Cricket Stadium.

LSG will begin their IPL 2026 campaign on April 1 against Delhi Capitals at home. Following this, they will face Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 5. According to the schedule for the first phase of IPL 2026, Lucknow Super Giants are slated to play four matches. Under the captaincy of Rishabh Pant, LSG will compete against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 9, and then take on Gujarat Titans at home on April 12.

Preparations for the Lucknow team are in full swing. Several players have joined the camp and are training rigorously. Rishabh Pant and Mohammad Shami are also expected to join the camp soon. Sharing images of the new jerseys gifted to the ground staff, Lucknow Super Giants posted on their social media account ‘X’, stating, β€œFor our ground staff, straight from our hearts.”

During the training sessions that began on Monday, batsmen Akshat Raghuwanshi, Abdul Samad, and Himat Singh, along with all-rounders Ayush Badoni, Shahbaz Ahmed, and Arshin Kulkarni, made a strong impression in the nets. The pace attack, featuring Arjun Tendulkar, Mayank Yadav, and Avesh Khan, received praise from the coaching staff for their speed and excellent line and length. All players were seen receiving crucial advice from Justin Langer and Tom Moody during the sessions. Assistant coaches Lance Klusener and Bharat Arun also kept a close watch on the players’ performances.

Since their debut in 2022, the Lucknow Super Giants have reached the playoffs twice. However, the last two seasons have been disappointing for the team. Under Rishabh Pant’s captaincy, LSG finished seventh in IPL 2025, winning only six out of fourteen matches.
