Liverpools Alisson Becker Faces Extended Injury Layoff

Mumbai, March 22: Liverpool Football Club has received another setback. Goalkeeper Alisson Becker has indicated that he may be sidelined for an extended period due to injury. He shared this update ahead of the team’s Premier League match against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Alisson recently missed the first leg of the UEFA Champions League Round of 16 match against Galatasaray in Istanbul, where his injury was described as a “minor muscle issue.” However, he returned to the squad for both Premier League matches against Tottenham Hotspur and the second leg against the Turkish team, which Liverpool won 4-0 at Anfield. Unfortunately, Alisson was not included in the traveling squad for the match on the South Coast.

The Brazilian star took to his Instagram Story to inform fans about his recovery. He expressed gratitude for their support but also hinted at the need for a longer rest. He wrote, “Unfortunately, I will be out of the game for some time. I am working hard to return even stronger. Thank you for your support.” This news comes as another blow for Liverpool before a crucial match, as Mohamed Salah is also unavailable due to a hamstring injury.

Salah sustained his injury during the recent UEFA Champions League match against Galatasaray at Anfield. Despite a stellar performance, where he scored a goal and assisted another, the Egyptian forward was substituted in the second half.

Currently, Liverpool sits in fifth place in the Premier League standings and is preparing to face Brighton. The team is striving to secure a top-four finish, which would guarantee their spot in the UEFA Champions League for the 2026-27 season. They trail fourth-placed Aston Villa by two points and are five points behind third-placed Manchester United.
