New Delhi, May 3: On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, various political leaders extended their greetings to journalists, highlighting the crucial role of a free and fair press in strengthening democracy and shaping public awareness.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took to social media platform ‘X’ to convey his wishes, stating, “On the occasion of World Press Freedom Day, heartfelt congratulations to all esteemed journalist colleagues. Your impartiality, fearlessness, and independence always work to strengthen democracy and guide society in new directions. May you continue to fulfill your responsibilities with complete dedication—best wishes.”

Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel also emphasized the media’s significant social role. In his message posted on X, he remarked, “The role of the press in building a progressive society is extremely important. Media is not just a means of informing about events; it also prepares citizens for nation-building. It plays a vital role in directing public awareness positively. Heartfelt congratulations to all journalist friends on World Press Freedom Day.”

Echoing similar sentiments, former Delhi Chief Minister and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal stressed the press’s responsibility in democracy. He wrote, “Best wishes to journalist colleagues on World Press Freedom Day. The role of the press in democracy is crucial. It is the press’s duty to question both the government and the opposition with complete impartiality, ensuring that neither strays from their path. Journalists should have the freedom to speak the truth without fear in a strong democracy.”

These messages clearly indicate that political leaders acknowledge the importance of independent journalism and the need for fearless reporting in a democratic framework.
