Hyderabad, August 2: KTR, the executive president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), has written a letter to Rahul Gandhi, the leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha, demanding an apology from Telangana Chief Minister K. Revant Reddy for his derogatory comments about engineering students and teachers. In his letter, KTR emphasized that the youth of India are not just the future but also the greatest strength of the nation today.
KTR stated, “They are the creators of a new India. They are engineers developing cutting-edge technologies, innovators establishing global startups, and scientists propelling India from the Moon to Mars. From artificial intelligence to aerospace, and semiconductors to space technology, the youth of India are scripting the next chapter of our country with their talent. They deserve praise, encouragement, and respect, not humiliation.”
He referred to CM Reddy’s recent comments, highlighting that while the entire nation recognizes engineers as nation builders, the Telangana Chief Minister labeled engineering students as “criminal waste.” KTR condemned Reddy’s remarks as a direct insult to millions of students, parents, and teachers.
KTR remarked, “A Chief Minister who calls engineers ‘criminal waste’ disrespects not just the engineers but also the dignity of his constitutional position. Previously, Reddy referred to university students as the ‘beer and biryani batch’ and dismissed student movements as the work of ‘goons.’ Whenever the youth questioned his government, he ridiculed them.”
In his letter, KTR also targeted Rahul Gandhi, stating that as the main spokesperson of the Congress party and the person responsible for selecting the Chief Minister in Telangana, he bears the political and moral responsibility for this shameful insult. He made two demands: “Stop lecturing the nation on democracy and the dignity of youth, and begin to adopt those values within your own party. Remaining silent in the face of such insults is akin to justifying them.”
Firstly, KTR called for Rahul Gandhi to publicly and unconditionally apologize to every student, engineer, teacher, and young citizen for CM Reddy’s remarks. He urged Gandhi to instruct the Chief Minister to publicly apologize to all engineering students, teachers, and youth, and to retract his derogatory comments.
KTR concluded by stating, “Engineers, scientists, teachers, and students who are building India’s digital economy are not ‘waste.’ They are the nation’s greatest assets. The real waste is the potential of Telangana’s youth being squandered under a government that responds to hopes with arrogance. The youth of Telangana are watching, and when democracy calls, they will make their voices heard through the power of their votes.”
