New Delhi, August 20: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) welcomed the announcement of Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi’s upcoming book on Thursday. However, they emphasized that the revelations within the book should be clear and truthful.
BJP leader Ram Kadam congratulated Gandhi on her book launch and expressed hope that she would write honestly, referencing how the Prime Minister at the time acted like a puppet. He specifically mentioned the tenure of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh from 2004 to 2014.
In contrast, Congress highlighted the pain and contributions of Sonia Gandhi throughout her life and career, emphasizing her role in uniting the nation.
The publisher has announced that Sonia Gandhi’s memoir, titled “Belonging: A Journey of Love,” will be released on November 10. Reports suggest that the book will chronicle her journey from a small town in Italy to a prominent position in Indian politics. It will also touch on the love, sorrow, and political responsibilities that have shaped her life.
Ram Kadam stated, “I wish Sonia Gandhi the best for her upcoming autobiography. However, I hope she writes the truth about how, during her tenure, the Prime Minister acted like a puppet, controlled remotely from 10 Janpath (Sonia Gandhi’s residence). The book should also address the corruption of that era and how efforts were made to fill personal coffers instead of serving the people.”
He added, “Everyone writes good things, but if Sonia Gandhi writes the truth, it will certainly be welcomed.”
Congress leader Pawan Khera remarked that the entire nation, and even many around the world, are eagerly awaiting Sonia Gandhi’s book. He noted that it is not just a book but a journey—a narrative of her life. This journey includes enduring the martyrdom of two family members, including her husband, yet she continued to fight. Despite facing challenges in politics, she remained resilient. Khera emphasized that her contributions to uniting the country cannot be forgotten.
