New Delhi, October 28 (Daily Kiran): Kia India has launched the CNG variant of its popular 7-seater MPV, Carens, offering a strong alternative to the Maruti Ertiga for large families and fleet operators seeking a fuel-efficient, feature-rich, and spacious vehicle.

Kia Carens

Known for its premium design and practicality, the Kia Carens has now become even more economical with the introduction of a CNG version, priced from ₹11.77 lakh (ex-showroom). This variant is targeted at customers who want lower running costs without compromising on comfort and features.

Price and Availability

The Carens CNG is offered only in the Premium (O) variant. The regular petrol Premium (O) trim is priced at ₹10.99 lakh, while opting for CNG adds ₹77,900 more. The CNG kit, sourced from Lovato, is dealer-fitted (not factory-installed) and comes with government approval along with a 3-year or 1 lakh km third-party warranty.

Engine and Performance

The Carens CNG uses the same 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing 113 bhp and 144 Nm of torque in petrol mode. When running on CNG, the power output slightly drops but delivers better mileage. The CNG variant is offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 7-seater layout.

Key Features

Despite being a CNG model, the Carens retains all major features from the Premium (O) petrol variant, making it a value-for-money MPV. Key highlights include:

  • 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay

  • 6 airbags as standard

  • Semi-leatherette upholstery

  • 12.5-inch LCD instrument cluster

  • Five Type-C charging ports

  • Reverse parking camera with guidelines

  • Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

  • 15-inch steel wheels with wheel covers

With this launch, Kia aims to attract both private buyers and commercial users looking for a safe, stylish, and efficient 7-seater alternative in the CNG segment.
