Thiruvananthapuram, February 20: Following the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, Kerala’s final voter list has recorded a total of 26,953,644 voters. This information was provided by the office of Chief Electoral Officer Ratan U. Kelkar. The final figures were released after a meeting with representatives from various political parties.

The official publication of the updated voter list will take place on February 21, and this list will be applicable for the upcoming assembly elections.

The draft voter list published on December 23 included 25.4 million voters. During the first phase of the SIR process, 27.8 million forms were distributed across the state. After verification, hearings, and necessary amendments, the final number of voters has increased to 26.9 million.

According to the final list, there are 13.1 million male voters and 13.8 million female voters, indicating that the number of female voters in Kerala surpasses that of male voters. Additionally, 223,558 overseas voters have also been included in the final list.

As per the Chief Electoral Officer’s office, after hearings across all 140 assembly seats, 53,229 names were removed from the draft list. This includes individuals who passed away during the counting period, those who acquired foreign citizenship, those who relocated, or those whose names were found to be duplicates.

Following the publication of the draft list, the Election Commission issued 3,688,948 notices for hearings. All these cases have now been resolved.

Among these, 1,932,688 voters had details that could not be linked to the 2002 voter list (no mapping category), while discrepancies were found in the records of 1,756,260 voters at the local level.

Between October 27 and January 30, 2026, the commission accepted 1,351,151 new applications (Form-6) for adding names to the voter list. Additionally, 159,111 applications (Form-6A) for registration as overseas voters were also approved.

During this period, a total of 2,428,639 applications related to adding or removing names were processed, while 393,333 forms were used to amend existing entries.

With the final voter list now prepared, preparations for the upcoming assembly elections in the state are being intensified.
