Manama, March 15: Amid ongoing military conflicts in West Asia, Bahrain’s security agencies have arrested five individuals. They are accused of transmitting sensitive and confidential information to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).
Bahrain’s police released a statement detailing the arrests. The Interior Ministry disclosed the identities of the suspects, who were reportedly gathering information related to the country’s critical and strategic locations and relaying it to elements in Iran. Investigations revealed that this network was systematically collecting sensitive data to pass on to the Revolutionary Guard in Iran.
Authorities indicated that a sixth suspect has also emerged, currently believed to be outside the country. Security agencies are investigating his connections and network. The arrested individuals have been identified as Abbas Abdullah Habib (39), Yusuf Ahmed Mansour Sarhan (25), Mohammad Fadhel Hamid (39), Sahlan Abdulraza Ali (27), Mohammad Hadi Hasan (37), and Ahmed Yusuf, while the fugitive is named Jasim Sarhan (37).
Investigative agencies have seized electronic devices and other documents from the suspects, which are undergoing forensic analysis to determine the nature of the information shared and the individuals involved.
Experts note that the IRGC is one of Iran’s most powerful military-security institutions, directly reporting to the country’s supreme leader and playing a crucial role in regional strategic activities.
This arrest comes at a time when tensions between Iran and its neighboring countries in the Gulf region are already heightened. Bahrain has long accused Iran of interfering in its internal affairs and promoting espionage activities. The revelation of this espionage network is considered significant for regional security.
Earlier, on March 10, Bahrain police arrested six Asian nationals, including five Pakistanis.
