KCR Accused of Receiving Over ₹1 Crore Without Attending Assembly: CM Reddy

Hyderabad, March 19: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy made serious allegations on Wednesday, claiming that opposition leader K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) received over ₹1.06 crore in salary and allowances while being absent from the Assembly.

The Chief Minister stated that KCR, who is also the president of the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), collected ₹1,06,56,674 from December 1, 2023, to March 18, 2026, despite his continuous absence from Assembly sessions.

During the discussion on the motion of thanks for the Governor’s address, the Chief Minister raised this issue. He urged Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar to consider action against legislators who draw salaries and allowances without attending the House.

Revanth Reddy referenced a Supreme Court remark that labeled elected representatives as “public servants.” He questioned whether public servants could receive salaries and allowances without fulfilling their duties.

The Chief Minister emphasized that at the very least, the opposition leader should participate in discussions to benefit the state. He also extended an invitation to KCR to attend the Assembly.

Additionally, he noted that KCR did not attend the House to welcome the new Governor, Shiv Pratap Shukla, which he deemed contrary to tradition.

He expressed disappointment that the opposition leader also missed the unveiling ceremony of the ‘Telangana Thalli’ statue.

Revanth Reddy accused BRS leaders of maintaining an arrogant attitude during their time in power and stated that their behavior has not changed even after losing power. He remarked, “Some people still consider themselves kings and mock democracy.”

Furthermore, the Chief Minister announced that the government is prepared to form a fact-finding committee to investigate encroachments and demolitions that occurred during both the BRS regime and the current government.
