New Delhi, June 20: At just 25 years old, Kartik Tyagi has impressed everyone with his ability to bowl consistently at speeds of 145-150 kilometers per hour. The right-arm bowler has made a mark in the IPL with his sharp bowling, proving to be a valuable asset both with the new ball and in the death overs. His skill to swing the ball in both directions makes him a standout player.
In IPL 2026, Kartik showcased his wicket-taking ability and improved control, catching the attention of many. This season, he has claimed 18 wickets in 14 matches for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), averaging 27.66.
Despite facing challenges with shin pain and recurring muscle issues that kept him off the field multiple times between 2021 and 2025, Kartik has significantly improved his bowling after recovering from injuries.
In his first-class career, Kartik has taken 7 wickets at an average of 34.42 across 4 matches. In List A cricket, he has claimed 34 wickets at an impressive average of 27.05 in 20 matches. Additionally, in 50 T20 matches, this young bowler has secured 47 wickets. In the IPL, he has played 34 matches, taking 33 wickets.
When it comes to the limited-overs team, there is a possibility for Kartik to be given a chance. While he may not directly replace an established bowler in Team India, he could certainly be added as an extra fast bowler in the squad. The Indian team needs additional aggressive options in fast bowling after Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Shami. Kartik Tyagi could be included in the team and experimented with alongside Prasidh Krishna or Harshit Rana as part of the rotation.
