New Delhi, June 20: A heart-wrenching incident has emerged from the Mithapur area in the Badarpur constituency of South Delhi. A father, under the influence of alcohol and drugs, brutally beat his two-year-old son to death. The assailant not only attacked his child but also violently assaulted his wife. Following her complaint, the Delhi Police arrested the accused.
According to the police, this tragic event occurred at around 1:30 PM on Friday in a house located in Lakpat Colony, Mithapur. A team was dispatched to the scene immediately after receiving a PCR call at the Jaitpur police station.
The complainant, Aarti (the wife), informed the police that her husband, Chandan Sharma (34), regularly consumed alcohol and drugs. A minor dispute escalated into a domestic quarrel that quickly turned violent. The victimized wife stated that after the argument, her husband launched a severe attack on her and their two minor children.
The severely injured two-year-old was rushed to Safdarjung Hospital. Despite receiving prompt medical attention, the child succumbed to his injuries on Saturday morning. The police have registered an FIR under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and the Juvenile Justice Act. The accused, Chandan Sharma, was apprehended immediately.
Senior officials from the Delhi Police have indicated that the detained suspect is currently being interrogated. A thorough investigation is underway, focusing on the aspects of substance abuse, domestic violence, and the child’s death.
