Bengaluru, May 19: In a significant event marking three years of the Congress government in Karnataka, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah inaugurated a ‘Dedication Conference for Three Years of Achievements’ organized by the Tumakuru district administration and district panchayat on Tuesday.
During the event, he also launched the ‘Nava Karnataka’ development model exhibition and laid the foundation stone for major development projects worth ₹682 crores in Tumakuru district.
The grand conference was led by Home Minister G. Parameshwara and Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda, with the presence of Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar, all cabinet ministers, and legislators.
After inaugurating the conference, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah praised the efforts of Parameshwara and Byre Gowda, stating that the event was organized meaningfully and voluntarily.
Siddaramaiah highlighted that out of the 580 promises made in the party’s election manifesto prepared under the leadership of Home Minister G. Parameshwara, the Congress government has fulfilled over 290 commitments. He assured that the remaining promises would be completed within the next two years.
He noted that the Congress government implemented five guarantee schemes immediately after taking office and has been working towards fulfilling several other commitments made to the public.
“We have worked for the development of people from all castes and religions. Unlike the BJP, we have not engaged in divisive politics based on caste and religion,” he stated.
Targeting the BJP, Siddaramaiah claimed that the ‘Karnataka Development Model’ is superior to the ‘Gujarat Model.’ He asserted that despite the BJP being in power in Gujarat for 35 years, real development has not occurred. He cited a recent incident in Gujarat, where a landlord sexually assaulted a 13-year-old girl over a rent dispute, as indicative of the state’s true model.
The Chief Minister also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for rising fuel and commodity prices. He remarked that before Modi became Prime Minister, the prices of diesel, petrol, and gold were significantly lower, but they have skyrocketed now, affecting both the poor and the middle class.
