Bengaluru, July 28: The Karnataka government has handed over the investigation of two cases related to alleged irregularities in the Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPPSC) exams and recruitment process to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID). Home Minister Priyank Kharge made this announcement on Tuesday.
The cases, registered under Section 10 of the Karnataka Public Examination Act, 2023, at the Bengaluru Vidhan Soudha police station, are linked to accusations of misconduct in public examinations and appointments conducted by KPPSC.
In a statement, Kharge emphasized that this decision was made to ensure a fair, unbiased, and thorough investigation into the allegations. He reaffirmed the state government’s strong commitment to maintaining the integrity, reliability, and transparency of public recruitment processes.
The minister stated, “The government is dedicated to conducting a fearless and impartial investigation into allegations of corruption, misconduct, improper means, or any form of abuse in the examination and recruitment processes, regardless of the position or rank of those involved.”
Kharge noted that assigning the cases to the CID reflects the government’s resolve to ensure an independent, transparent, and credible investigation.
He also highlighted that maintaining the trust of millions of candidates preparing for competitive exams and ensuring justice based on merit and eligibility is one of the government’s top priorities.
The Home Minister further asserted that the state government will not compromise on upholding the integrity of public examinations and strengthening a merit-based recruitment system. Strict legal action will be taken against anyone found guilty after the investigation.
Amid growing concerns over alleged irregularities in public recruitment exams, these cases have been assigned to the CID, with the government aiming to reassure candidates that accountability and transparency will be upheld throughout the process.
