Karnataka BJP Chief Claims Early Elections Are Inevitable Amid Congress Turmoil

Shivamogga, May 27: Karnataka BJP President and MLA B.Y. Vijayendra stated on Wednesday that the Congress leadership’s alleged move to change the Chief Minister is akin to admitting the administrative failures of the Siddaramaiah government. He asserted that early assembly elections in the state are now a certainty.

Vijayendra remarked, “No one can stop early elections in the state now.”

In a media interaction, he revealed that a final decision to seek the Chief Minister’s resignation was made after marathon meetings lasting nearly five to five and a half hours in Delhi on Tuesday (May 26). He indicated that this is a clear sign that Congress is nearing its end in Karnataka.

When asked about the potential successor to Siddaramaiah, Vijayendra stated that whoever becomes the next Chief Minister will only be a temporary figure. He reiterated that early elections in Karnataka are unstoppable.

He noted that as soon as Siddaramaiah resigns, the ensuing political uncertainty will become apparent to the public, regardless of who the next Chief Minister is.

In response to another question, Vijayendra confirmed that Siddaramaiah would indeed resign following the Congress leadership’s decision. However, he added that only God knows who the next Chief Minister will be.

He emphasized that this situation signals the decline of Congress in Karnataka. Vijayendra clarified that he holds no personal animosity towards Siddaramaiah and considers him one of the most experienced Chief Ministers in South India. Nevertheless, he accused Siddaramaiah of burdening the state with nearly 10 lakh crore rupees in debt.

He urged the public to recognize that Karnataka is trapped in a debt crisis. According to him, the real issue is not who the next Chief Minister will be, but the direction in which the state is headed. He alleged that internal conflicts within Congress have severely weakened governance.

Vijayendra pointed to the Valmiki Corporation scam and the ‘Muda’ scam, accusing the government of corruption. He also referenced the alleged suicides of several officials.

He argued that victories in by-elections cannot be considered a measure of good governance. If winning by-elections were the benchmark, Siddaramaiah would not be facing resignation.

Vijayendra charged that the Congress government is mired in corruption, development projects have stalled, and this is why a change in leadership has become necessary.
