Johann Manzambi Shines with Two Goals in Switzerlands Victory Over Bosnia-Herzegovina

Los Angeles, June 19: In a stunning display during the FIFA World Cup 2026 Group B match, Switzerland triumphed over Bosnia-Herzegovina with a score of 4-1. The standout performer was Johann Manzambi, who scored two goals in the match. Following the victory, Manzambi expressed that he might not sleep tonight due to his excitement after scoring his first World Cup goal.

Manzambi opened the scoring for Switzerland in the 74th minute with a spectacular high volley, giving his team the lead. He netted his second goal in the 90th minute, extending Switzerland’s advantage to 3-0. His impressive performance earned him the title of ‘Player of the Match.’

Reflecting on the victory, Manzambi stated, “To be honest, this is incredible. It’s my first brace in my career, and to do it in the World Cup is special. Scoring two goals in front of the fans and my family feels amazing. I don’t think I will be able to sleep tonight.”

Notably, the 20-year-old midfielder became the youngest Swiss player to score in a World Cup match since 1950. He is also the first Swiss player to achieve a brace after coming on as a substitute. Furthermore, he holds the record for being the youngest player to score two goals in a single World Cup match for Switzerland.

Manzambi has primarily been utilized as a substitute in the national team, having scored three goals in 13 appearances. Switzerland’s coach, Murat Yakin, praised Manzambi, saying, “Johann is a happy player with excellent football skills. We can deploy him in various positions—sometimes in defense, sometimes in midfield, and when needed, as a winger or striker. He plays like street football, so he should have the freedom to express himself on the field. You saw today that he can create pressure, his dribbling is good, and he has the ability to score.”
