Jodhpur, September 3 (Kiran News): The rack of the new Jodhpur–Delhi Cantt Vande Bharat train arrived in Jodhpur on Tuesday night, paving the way for its launch ahead of September 15. The eight-coach semi-high-speed train will be the second Vande Bharat from Jodhpur, after the Jodhpur–Sabarmati service.

Senior DCM of Jodhpur Railway Division, Vikas Kheda, said that the final route and timetable are being worked out and will be released soon. As per the proposed schedule, the train will depart from Jodhpur at 5:30 a.m. and reach Delhi Cantt at 1:30 p.m., taking around eight hours. It will halt at Degana, Makrana, Phulera, Jaipur, Alwar, Rewari, and Gurugram. On the return journey, it will leave Delhi at 3:10 p.m. and reach Jodhpur at 11:15 p.m.
Proposed Fares
Jodhpur–Jaipur: Chair Car – ₹930, Executive Class – ₹1,735
Jodhpur–Delhi Cantt: Chair Car – ₹1,610, Executive Class – ₹2,930
Delhi Cantt–Jodhpur: Chair Car – ₹1,555, Executive Class – ₹2,880
Fares Higher Than Existing Trains
The Vande Bharat’s fares are significantly higher compared to other trains. For instance, the AC Chair Car fare of the Jodhpur–Jaipur Intercity Express (22978) is ₹520, almost half the Vande Bharat Chair Car fare of ₹930. Similarly, the Third AC fares of Jodhpur–Delhi trains such as Mandor Express (₹1,000), Runicha Express (₹890) and Shalimar Express (₹955) are considerably lower than the proposed Chair Car fare of ₹1,610 and far below the Executive fare of ₹2,930.
Second Vande Bharat from Jodhpur
Currently, Jodhpur is connected to Ahmedabad (Sabarmati) by an existing Vande Bharat, which departs at 6 a.m. and returns at 10 p.m. The service, however, has seen low passenger occupancy, largely due to the availability of multiple lower-fare alternatives on the same route. The train does not operate on Tuesdays.
