Ranchi, August 22: Leaders from the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) and Congress have accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of inciting students during recent protests. Manoj Pandey of JMM and Rakesh Sinha from Congress voiced their concerns regarding the situation.
In a conversation about the police action against protesting students, Manoj Pandey stated, “The number of students in that crowd was very small. There were many BJP leaders present, along with directors from coaching institutes and local mafia. The BJP’s state office is directly misleading students and leading them astray.”
Pandey further questioned, “Why should Chief Minister Hemant Soren be targeted or blamed if the court delivers a verdict or order? Why are you making unparliamentary remarks? Is it a fault of a democratically elected chief minister (who is an Adivasi)? Just because he is Adivasi, does that justify the insults? You are making accusations for mistakes he did not commit.”
He emphasized, “These statements do not represent the students; they are the words of BJP leaders. These ideas are being put into the mouths of students. How can anyone decide this? What did any lawyer say? This was just the first hearing; the next one is on the 15th. The government will present its case then. Therefore, these statements belong to BJP leaders, student organizations, and coaching mafia. Students need to understand this.”
Rakesh Sinha, the media in-charge for Jharkhand Congress, mentioned, “The government has held three rounds of meetings with the students. Today, the students demanded the cancellation of the 11th-13th JPSC and JSSC CGL exams, which the government has agreed to. Now, the honorable court has intervened and placed a stay on that order.”
Sinha added, “This is a temporary stay. Students should understand that the government has taken their demands seriously. The government will submit its response to the court, so students should remain patient. We stand with the students. They are ours, and the government is for the students.”
