Japan Achieves Historic 4-0 Victory Over Tunisia in FIFA World Cup

Monterrey, June 21: In a stunning display at the FIFA World Cup 2026, Japan triumphed over Tunisia with a decisive 4-0 victory in Group F. This match marked a historic moment as it was the first time Japan scored four goals in a single World Cup match. With this loss, Tunisia’s journey in the tournament has come to an end.

Japan’s victory solidifies their claim for a spot in the knockout stage. Notably, in the previous 151 matches played by AFC (Asian Football Confederation) teams in the World Cup, no team had managed to score four goals in a single game. Japan has now set this record, becoming the first AFC nation to achieve this feat. Furthermore, this win stands as the largest victory for any AFC team in World Cup history.

The scoring began with Ayase Ueda, who executed a remarkable header over Tunisia’s defenders, giving Japan a 1-0 lead. Ueda scored two goals in this match, making him the first Japanese player to net two goals in a single FIFA World Cup match.

In the 1000th match of FIFA World Cup history, Kaito Nakamura also made his mark. He swiftly entered the penalty box and provided an accurate pass to Daichi Kamada, who converted it into a goal, extending Japan’s lead to 2-0.

Kamada’s goal, scored in the fourth minute, is now the fastest ever by a Japanese player in World Cup history. The previous record was held by Shinji Kagawa, who scored in the sixth minute against Colombia in 2018. Ueda added Japan’s second goal in the 31st minute. Japan continued to dominate in the second half, with Junya Ito scoring the third goal in the 69th minute through a brilliant slide. Ueda capped off the match with his second goal in the 83rd minute, sealing Japan’s comfortable victory.
