Jammu, March 19: The Jammu Police South Zone has once again demonstrated its swift and effective investigative capabilities by solving a ‘blind murder’ case within just 24 hours. The police have arrested two main suspects and secured confessions regarding the crime.
This achievement is attributed to the oversight of the South City SP, guidance from the Jammu SSP, and the dedicated efforts of the team led by SDPO South City, SHO PS Satwari, IC PP Chatha, IC PP Gadigarh, and PSI Waseem Bhatti.
The incident occurred on the night of March 16, 2026, around 9:30 PM. The PS Satwari received information about a male body found near a bridge on the road from Chatha to Miran Sahib. The deceased was a member of the Sikh community, approximately 46-47 years old. Preliminary investigations revealed deep wounds on his neck caused by a sharp weapon, resulting in significant blood loss and immediate death. This was clearly a murder case. The police registered FIR number 66/2026 under Section 103 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and Sections 4 and 25 of the Arms Act.
The investigation team promptly inspected the crime scene. They analyzed CCTV footage from nearby routes, which showed a scooter with two individuals—one driver and a passenger—following the victim. By combining human intelligence and technical intelligence, the police identified the suspects.
The suspects were identified as Davinder Singh, son of Nain Singh, a resident of Bhor Camp Ward Number 1, and Ravinder Singh, alias Fateh, son of Amrik Singh, a resident of Govindpura Chatha. Both were arrested and interrogated, during which they confessed to the crime. Initial investigations revealed that the victim had been involved in a long-standing domestic dispute with his wife, which may have been a significant motive for the murder. The police have also recovered weapons and other evidence related to the case.
