New Delhi, March 22: The AATS team from southwest Delhi has uncovered a significant racket involving the illegal hoarding and black marketing of LPG cylinders in the Mahipalpur area. Three individuals, identified as Krishna, Dinesh Sahu, and Mithilesh, have been arrested in connection with this case.
According to police reports, a special team from AATS received a tip-off regarding the illegal hoarding of LPG cylinders at K-845 in Mahipalpur as part of an ongoing campaign against the illegal trade of essential goods. Acting on this information, the team conducted a raid on March 21 and apprehended the three suspects red-handed.
During the operation, police seized 70 domestic and 4 commercial LPG cylinders. Additionally, they recovered an electronic weighing machine, two hanging scales, and a metal pipe used for gas refilling. The suspects were unable to present any valid licenses or permits for the storage and trade of the cylinders.
During interrogation, the accused revealed that they had been illegally buying and selling LPG cylinders for the past three years. They sold cylinders to local residents without bills and extracted gas from filled cylinders to refill empty ones for higher profits. They used metal pipes for this process and transported the cylinders using a Tata Ace Gold vehicle.
All three arrested individuals hail from Banka district in Bihar and have been residing in Delhi for the past 20-25 years. Police reported that the suspects had rented a location in Mahipalpur, which they were using as an illegal gas warehouse.
A case has been registered at the Vasant Kunj North police station, and further investigations are underway. Police officials stated that efforts are being made to locate other suspects based on the statements of the arrested individuals to determine the extent of their LPG supply network.
