Mumbai, May 7: On the first anniversary of ‘Operation Sindoor’, Yaniv Revach, the Consul General of Israel in Central-West India, praised the Indian Army’s spirit in an exclusive interview. He expressed pride in Israel’s connection with the Indian military.
Revach stated, “Israel is proud of its ties with the Indian Army, which demonstrated enhanced offensive and defensive capabilities during ‘Operation Sindoor’. Those who spread terrorism should know that they will face consequences, and when it comes to the fight against terrorism, Israel will certainly stand with India.”
He further emphasized, “Israel did not choose this war with Iran and Hezbollah, but it has the right to defend its people. For many years, the Iranian government has funded proxies attempting to encircle Israel and attack from various directions.”
Discussing the recent situation in the Strait of Hormuz, Revach noted, “We need to understand that the Strait of Hormuz is one of the world’s most critical energy routes. Any attempt by Iran to block it poses a threat not only to Gulf countries or Israel but also to the global economy and oil supply. Therefore, the world must recognize that we cannot accept the use of international trade routes as a form of political blackmail.”
Regarding Israel’s approval to purchase fighter jets from the United States, Revach said, “Firstly, the new advanced fighter squadron will significantly support the capabilities of the Israeli Air Force. These aircraft provide Israel with enhanced defense capabilities, extended operational range, and, of course, advanced technology for the safety of our citizens.”
He highlighted the longstanding and strong relationship between Israel and the United States. “We have seen how robust our cooperation has been, especially during the fight against Iran, in areas such as airstrikes, joint air force operations, and intelligence matters. The close relationship between our Prime Minister Netanyahu and President Trump is crucial, and we have seen its effectiveness during this conflict.”
Yaniv Revach also mentioned that the first Iron Dome system was deployed in the UAE during the fight against Iran. He expressed hope that defense collaboration between India and Israel would continue to grow. “We know that during Prime Minister Modi’s visit, this was one of the topics discussed. There is a very strong partnership based on trust and common interests between India and Israel. We expect to see even more collaboration in the future, including initiatives like ‘Make in India’.”
He concluded, “Many Israeli companies are actively working here with Indian firms to promote various sectors, whether it be defense, security, water, or cyber. This is one of the contracts that have been signed. Ultimately, because both countries share similar values, cooperation in economic or defense areas will be beneficial for both sides.”
