Kolkata, June 29: The International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) has removed Radharamn Das from all positions within the organization. This decision was announced in a media statement released on Sunday.
In the statement, ISKCON informed, “We would like to inform well-wishers, devotees, media members, and the general public that Radharamn Das has been placed on mandatory leave. He has also been instructed not to represent ISKCON in any media, government, or public forum.”
The statement further explained, “Like any organization, especially one like ISKCON that operates in over 100 countries with diverse cultural, linguistic, and social contexts, there are rules, standards, responsibilities, and ethical principles for its members. When a member fails to fulfill their responsibilities, corrective measures are taken.”
It continued, “After several requests over the years, ISKCON has taken corrective action by placing him on leave. This action was taken because he did not adhere to ISKCON’s procedures, acted unilaterally against the organization’s official stance, and intervened in matters beyond his jurisdiction, jeopardizing the safety and well-being of members in various parts of the world. During this time, we encouraged him to engage in self-reflection and improve his working methods.”
Previously, Das, who served as the Vice President of ISKCON Kolkata, shared this decision on the social media platform X.
He also mentioned that ISKCON instructed him not to represent the organization in front of the media or make any statements on its behalf.
In his post on X, Das stated, “I want to inform well-wishers, devotees, media members, and the general public that I have been relieved of all my responsibilities within ISKCON. Additionally, I have been instructed not to represent ISKCON in any media, government, or public platform.”
He also noted that this action was taken due to several issues.
According to the information provided to him, Das was removed for publicly discussing the atrocities against Hindus and devotees in Bangladesh and for giving interviews to the media. He also supported ISKCON monk Chinmoy Krishna Prabhu, who is imprisoned in Dhaka, and spoke about him.
