Tehran, May 27: In a significant meeting with traders, industrialists, and representatives from the private sector, Iranian President Masoud Pajeshkian addressed the pressing economic challenges facing the nation. He assured attendees that the government is committed to bolstering the economy by providing robust support to the private sector.
Pajeshkian highlighted the government’s dedication to removing obstacles to economic activities and creating a conducive environment for business. This, he stated, is essential for the country to withstand external pressures and crises effectively.
According to state broadcaster Press TV, the President remarked, “Today, the real battle is for the economy and the livelihoods of the people. The greatest burden of this economic war falls on traders, producers, and the private sector.”
He emphasized that the government views the private sector as a crucial pillar of the nation’s strength and will ensure it remains resilient. The more capable and active the private sector is, the stronger the country’s economic foundation will be.
The meeting included senior officials, including the ministers of interior, finance, and agriculture. Discussions focused on challenges related to trade, foreign exchange, taxation, banking, customs, and market regulation.
Pajeshkian acknowledged that the government has faced pre-existing economic imbalances, war-like conditions, and external political pressures. He stressed the need for better coordination among the government, private sector, and other institutions.
He called for transparency, mutual trust, and joint efforts against corruption, stating that honest participation from all parties is crucial to navigate through this challenging economic period.
The President claimed that after failing to achieve their military objectives, the U.S. and Israel are now attempting to undermine Iran’s economy and affect the livelihoods of its people.
He urged those in the trade and industry sectors to understand the current extraordinary circumstances and the limitations of the government, while also collaborating to protect national interests and strengthen the economy.
Pajeshkian concluded, “To successfully emerge from these difficult economic conditions, mutual trust, transparency, responsibility, and genuine participation from all sectors are essential.”
