Irans Ongoing Attacks in West Asia: Over 52,000 Indians Returned Home

New Delhi, March 8: Tensions continue to escalate in West Asia as Iran persists with its attacks. Concurrently, the United States and Israel are also ramping up their military actions. Amidst this turmoil, India’s Ministry of External Affairs has issued an update regarding the situation in West Asia and the Gulf region.

According to the Ministry, the Indian government is closely monitoring the evolving conditions in West Asia and the Gulf, particularly concerning Indian citizens who are stranded during transit or short visits.

All Indian nationals in the region are advised to adhere to local authorities’ guidelines and follow the advisories issued by Indian embassies or consulates in their areas. The embassies and consulates have released detailed advisories and established 24/7 helplines to assist those concerned due to the current circumstances.

The Ministry has also set up a special control room to monitor and respond to inquiries from affected individuals and their families. Following the recent partial reopening of airspace in the region, both Indian and foreign airlines are operating commercial flights, including non-scheduled services, to repatriate Indian travelers who were in transit or on short visits.

The Ministry reported that over 52,000 Indians have utilized air services to return safely to India from Gulf countries between March 1 and March 7. Of these, 32,107 traveled via Indian airlines. Plans are in place to operate additional flights in the coming days.

For Indian citizens in countries where commercial flight services are unavailable, it is advised to contact the nearest embassy or consulate for information and guidance on the closest available commercial flight options.

The safety and well-being of Indian citizens abroad remain the government’s top priority. The Indian government is collaborating with local authorities to assist all those in need.
