Chaitra Navratri: Experience Divine Power at Maa Sharadas Temple

New Delhi, March 13: With the onset of the Chaitra month, preparations for Navratri begin in temples dedicated to the goddess. In Madhya Pradesh, there is a powerful temple where mere darshan can alleviate all troubles.

During Chaitra, millions of devotees undertake a challenging climb to reach the temple for a glimpse of the goddess. We are referring to the miraculous temple of Maa Sharada in Maihar.

Located on the Trikoot mountain in the Satna district of Madhya Pradesh, Maa Sharada is one of the 108 Shakti Peeths. During Chaitra Navratri, a flood of devotees arrives to seek the goddess’s blessings. The temple is renowned for its mysterious adornments, believed to be performed by divine powers at night. This mystical decoration is linked to her devoted follower, Veer Alha.

According to legend, Veer Alha meditated on Trikoot mountain for 12 years, and the goddess, pleased with his intense penance, granted him darshan. She bestowed upon him the boon that he would have the first right to worship and adorn her. This is why fresh flowers are found in the sanctum when the temple doors open in the morning. It is believed that Veer Alha performs the first worship of the goddess.

Another remarkable aspect of the temple that strengthens devotees’ faith in both Maa Sharada and the temple is a miraculous lamp that has been burning continuously for centuries. It is said that Alha himself lights the lamp in reverence to the goddess. These factors contribute to the unwavering faith of the devotees.

To fulfill their wishes, devotees climb over 1,000 steps to reach the temple. It is said that anyone who ascends these steps and meditates sincerely on Maa Sharada will have all their desires fulfilled. A grand fair is organized in Maihar during Chaitra Navratri. This year, the fair will commence on March 19 and continue until March 27. On this occasion, a significant police presence will be deployed at the temple, and special arrangements will be made for the devotees.
