Dehradun, March 13: Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami announced in the assembly that Uttarakhand has been recognized as a leading state in financial management, fiscal discipline, and good governance at the national level in recent years. The positive outcomes are a result of the state government’s transparent financial policies, effective resource utilization, and long-term economic vision.
While addressing the assembly session in Bhararesi, CM Dhami highlighted the recent praise for Uttarakhand’s financial management in the Fiscal Health Index 2026 published by NITI Aayog (reporting for 2023-24). In this report, Uttarakhand secured the second position among the northeastern and Himalayan states. This achievement reflects the state’s revenue growth, improved expenditure quality, deficit management, and robust debt management policies.
CM Dhami stated that Uttarakhand has consistently performed better in financial discipline. The Arun Jaitley Financial Management Report also awarded Uttarakhand the second position among special category Himalayan states, following Arunachal Pradesh, showcasing the state’s strong financial system and accountable governance.
He further mentioned that according to the report from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India, the Uttarakhand government has fully complied with the standards set by the Fiscal Responsibility and Budget Management (FRBM) Act. The state has maintained a revenue surplus and kept the fiscal deficit within the prescribed limits of gross state domestic product.
CM Dhami emphasized that the state government’s goal is to further empower Uttarakhand economically while accelerating the pace of development. To achieve this, the government is making balanced investments in infrastructure, social sectors, and job creation, alongside maintaining financial discipline.
He reiterated that the state government is committed to making Uttarakhand an economically strong, self-reliant, and developed state by adhering to the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance.
