New Delhi, May 8: Iran’s Foreign Minister, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, has sharply criticized the military policies of the United States. He stated that whenever diplomatic opportunities arise, Washington opts for military action instead. He described this as part of a pressure strategy or a political conspiracy.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, Araghchi remarked, “Whenever a diplomatic solution seems possible, the US chooses a risky military operation. Is this a brutal strategy to exert pressure, or is it a deceitful plot that ensnares the American president once again? Regardless of the reasons, the outcome remains the same: the Iranian people never yield to pressure, and diplomacy always becomes its victim.”
Araghchi also refuted claims made by the CIA, asserting that Iran’s missile stockpile and launcher capacity is not 75 percent, as suggested, but rather 120 percent compared to February 28.
Clarifying Iran’s military capabilities, Araghchi shared a report from the American Intelligence Community on ‘X’. This report indicated that despite weeks of intense bombings by the US and Israel, Tehran still possesses significant ballistic missile capabilities.
According to the report, an American official noted that approximately 75 percent of the mobile launchers and about 70 percent of the missiles available before the conflict remain intact. The official also mentioned evidence that the Iranian regime has successfully reactivated nearly all of its underground storage facilities, repaired some damaged missiles, and even added new missiles. These missiles were nearly complete at the onset of the war.
On Friday, Iran’s main military command, Khatam al-Anbia Central Headquarters, reported that the US military attacked two Iranian vessels near the Strait of Hormuz. Additionally, airstrikes were conducted in civilian areas of southern Iran with the cooperation of some regional countries.
According to Iranian media, spokesperson Ibrahim Jolfaghari stated that this “aggressive” action by the US military violates the ceasefire agreement between Iran and the United States. He noted that one of the targeted vessels was an oil tanker heading towards the Strait of Hormuz from Iran’s maritime border near Jask, while the other was entering this waterway near Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates.
