Mumbai, February 21: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi held separate phone conversations with his counterparts from Egypt and Russia on Friday to discuss the latest developments in the ongoing indirect nuclear talks between Iran and the United States.

According to the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Araghchi mentioned the second round of talks with the US that took place in Geneva on Tuesday during his discussion with Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry. He provided updates on efforts to draft a negotiation framework based on mutual respect and interests.

Shoukry welcomed the ongoing diplomatic process between Iran and the US, emphasizing the need for consultations to create a framework that is “acceptable” to all parties involved.

In a separate conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Araghchi discussed the current status of Iran’s nuclear program, including the outcomes of the indirect contacts between the US and Iran in Geneva.

Lavrov reiterated Russia’s support for the negotiation process, stating that any resolution should respect Iran’s legitimate rights and provide a fair political and diplomatic path in line with the principles of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT).

This new diplomatic initiative between Iran and the US comes amid heightened tensions and increased US military activities in the region.

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump stated on Thursday that Iran has 10 to 15 days to reach an agreement regarding its nuclear program, or it may face “serious consequences.”

According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the Trump administration is considering limited military options to pressure Iran. Sources indicated that if approved, an attack could occur within days, targeting specific military or government sites.

The report also noted that if Iran refuses to comply with US demands, the Trump administration could launch a broader campaign against Iranian government establishments aimed at increasing pressure on the “Tehran regime.”

However, the report clarified that Trump has not yet made a final decision on any level of attack and is weighing various options, ranging from limited actions to large-scale strikes.
