Iran Launches Major Missile Attack on Israels Nuclear Cities, Over 100 Injured

Tel Aviv, March 22: A significant missile attack by Iran has targeted the southern Israeli cities of Dimona and Arad, resulting in over 100 injuries. Among the injured, 11 individuals are reported to be in critical condition. Israeli media indicates that the country’s air defense systems failed to intercept at least two ballistic missiles during the onslaught.

Following the attacks, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Chief of Staff Lieutenant General Eyal Zamir pledged to continue fighting against Israel’s adversaries on all fronts.

According to the Times of Israel, among the severely injured is a 12-year-old boy who suffered shrapnel wounds in Dimona, along with a 5-year-old girl injured in a subsequent attack in Arad. Multiple strikes occurred in the Dimona area on Saturday.

Iranian state media claimed that these attacks were aimed at Israel’s nuclear research facility, located approximately 10 kilometers (6 miles) from Dimona and 30 kilometers (18.5 miles) from Arad. The United States and Israel have consistently sought to prevent Iran from developing nuclear weapons, making this missile strike on Israeli nuclear sites appear as an act of retaliation from Iran.

The Shimon Peres Negev Nuclear Research Center is considered crucial to Israel’s long-suspected nuclear weapons program, a claim that Jerusalem neither confirms nor denies as part of its policy.

The Israeli emergency service, Magen David Adom, reported that in addition to the critically injured boy, a 30-year-old woman sustained minor injuries from glass shards, while 31 others received treatment for light injuries. Most injuries were caused by shrapnel or occurred while seeking shelter. Additionally, 14 individuals were treated for acute anxiety.

MDA paramedic Carmel Cohen stated, “There was extensive damage at the scene, and chaos ensued.” Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba confirmed that seven injured individuals were admitted for further medical care, including the critically injured 12-year-old boy, who is being treated in the trauma room. The remaining six patients are receiving care in the surgical emergency room.

Hours after the Dimona attacks, a similar scene unfolded in Arad, where a ballistic missile struck, damaging several buildings.

MDA reported that its medical teams treated 71 people at the attack site before transferring them to hospitals. Among them, 10 were critically injured, including a 5-year-old girl. Thirteen others were reported to be in stable condition, while 48 sustained minor injuries. Four additional individuals received treatment and were also taken to the hospital.
