Tehran, March 13: Iran’s Vice President Mohammad-Reza Arif announced that the administration has declared the upcoming week as “National Unity and Solidarity Week” for Iran. This information was reported by the IRNA news agency.
Arif stated that this decision was made by the administration, inspired by the first message from Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei. According to a report from the Xinhua news agency, this message emphasized the need to maintain unity among the Iranian people.
He remarked, “According to the Supreme Leader, the active presence of the people and maintaining national unity are the most crucial foundations for the country’s strength and security.”
Meanwhile, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, stated on Thursday that maintaining peace and security in the Strait of Hormuz is Iran’s “inherent right.” Iravani told reporters that Iran fully respects and is committed to the principle of freedom of navigation under maritime law.
He added, “However, the current situation in the region, including the Strait of Hormuz, is not a legal consequence of Iran’s self-defense rights. Instead, it is a direct result of destabilizing activities by the United States aimed at attacking Iran and undermining regional security.”
Iran’s new Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has called for the continuous closure of the Strait of Hormuz, stating that “the method to block the Strait of Hormuz should definitely continue to be utilized.”
It is noteworthy that on February 28, Israel and the United States jointly attacked Tehran and several other Iranian cities. These attacks resulted in the deaths of Iran’s then-Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, several senior military commanders, and civilians. In retaliation, Iran conducted missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli and U.S. positions and assets in the Middle East.
