IPL 2026: Rajasthan Royals Claim Top Spot After Thrilling Match Against Gujarat Titans

New Delhi, April 5: The ninth match of IPL 2026 took place on Saturday at the Narendra Modi Stadium, featuring the Gujarat Titans (GT) against the Rajasthan Royals (RR). Rajasthan Royals secured a narrow victory, winning by just 6 runs, which propelled them to the top of the standings. This marked RR’s second win in their second match of the season.

The Delhi Capitals are currently in second place, having won both of their matches this season. The Punjab Kings also enjoyed success, winning their first two matches and sitting in third place.

Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) has played one match, winning it and placing fourth. Sunrisers Hyderabad has participated in two matches, achieving one win and one loss, which puts them in fifth place with 2 points. The Mumbai Indians are in sixth place, having won one and lost one of their two matches.

The Gujarat Titans find themselves in seventh place after losing both of their opening matches. Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) is in eighth place, having lost their only match. The Kolkata Knight Riders are ninth after losing both of their matches, while the Chennai Super Kings sit at the bottom in tenth place, also without a win.

Despite several teams having the same number of points, their positions in the standings vary due to net run rate. The rankings are determined based on this crucial statistic.

The standings are expected to change after every match. Two matches are scheduled for Sunday. The first match will see Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) face off against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) at Rajiv Gandhi Stadium in Hyderabad at 3:30 PM. The second match will feature Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) taking on Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore at 7:30 PM. CSK, having lost both of their initial matches, will aim for their first win of the season on RCB’s home ground.
