IPL 2026: KL Rahul Surpasses Abhishek Sharma in Orange Cap Race, Bhuvneshwar Kumar Leads Purple Cap

New Delhi, May 12: In the 55th match of IPL 2026, the Delhi Capitals (DC) triumphed over the Punjab Kings (PBKS) by three wickets on Monday. Despite scoring only 9 runs in this match, KL Rahul has moved ahead of Abhishek Sharma in the race for the Orange Cap. Rahul now ranks second among the highest run-scorers of the season.

KL Rahul has amassed 477 runs at a strike rate of 177 in 12 matches this season. Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma has slipped to third place with 475 runs in 11 matches. The Orange Cap is still held by Heinrich Klaasen, the wicketkeeper-batsman from Sunrisers Hyderabad, who has scored 494 runs at a strike rate of 157 in 11 matches.

Gujarat Titans’ captain Shubman Gill is currently fourth in the Orange Cap race, having scored 462 runs at a strike rate of 160 in 10 matches. His opening partner, Sai Sudharsan, is fifth with 440 runs in 11 matches. Vaibhav Suryaanshi also has 440 runs in 11 matches, placing him sixth among the top run-scorers.

The Purple Cap is currently adorned by Bhuvneshwar Kumar, the fast bowler from Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), who has taken 21 wickets in 11 matches. Anshul Kamboj follows in second place with 19 wickets, while Kagiso Rabada from Gujarat Titans holds the third position with 18 wickets in 11 matches.

Lucknow Super Giants’ fast bowler Prince Yadav is fourth with 16 wickets in 11 matches. Ishan Malinga has also taken 16 wickets, placing him fifth, and Rashid Khan is sixth with 15 wickets. Jos Buttler, playing for Rajasthan Royals, rounds out the top seven with 15 wickets.
