Hyderabad, April 18: In the 27th match of IPL 2026, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) is set to face Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium. CSK captain Ruturaj Gaikwad won the toss and chose to bowl first.
CSK made one change to their playing eleven, bringing in Mukesh Choudhary in place of Khaleel Ahmed. After winning the toss, Ruturaj stated, “We will bowl first. The pitch looks good and is unlikely to change much, so we prefer to chase a target. It feels great to rise from the bottom. Since the second match, we have been focusing on doing the basics right. The key is to maintain consistent performance. I felt Noor bowled exceptionally well last match, and it was great to see him back in form. Anshul has also been bowling well towards the end of matches.”
SRH also made a change in their lineup, replacing Harsh Dubey with Sri Lankan fast bowler Dilshan Madushanka. After losing the toss, captain Ishan Kishan remarked, “I believe we would have batted first had we won the toss. The wicket looks good, and we want to set a solid score. It’s important to bat for the team rather than for individual performance. We need to focus on each match, regardless of our current position, as this is a long tournament. I think the ball will swing a bit initially, so our batsmen need to keep their eyes on the ball. Dilshan Madushanka has been included in place of Harsh Dubey.”
After starting IPL 2026 with three consecutive losses, CSK has bounced back with two impressive victories. Following a win against Delhi Capitals, CSK defeated Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 32 runs in their last match. Sanju Samson has been in excellent form, scoring a century against Delhi and contributing 48 runs against KKR. Ayush Mhatre has also shown great form, while Anshul Kamboj took five wickets in the last two matches, and Noor Ahmad’s spin was effective against KKR.
On the other hand, SRH has won two out of their five matches this season, facing defeat in three. They recently halted Rajasthan Royals’ winning streak with a 57-run victory. Prafull Hinge and Saqib Hussain both took four wickets in that match, while Ishan Malinga also performed well. In batting, Ishan Kishan scored a remarkable 91 runs off 44 balls, with Henrik Klaasen adding 40 runs.
SRH’s playing eleven includes: Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Ishan Kishan (captain), Henrik Klaasen, Salil Arora (wicketkeeper), Aniket Verma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Shivang Kumar, Prafull Hinge, Saqib Hussain, and Ishan Malinga.
CSK’s playing eleven features: Sanju Samson (wicketkeeper), Ruturaj Gaikwad (captain), Sarfaraz Khan, Shivam Dube, Dewald Brevis, Jamie Overton, Matthew Short, Anshul Kamboj, Noor Ahmad, Mukesh Choudhary, and Gurjapaneet Singh.
