
New Delhi, 09 December (Daily Kiran) – The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has released the official shortlist of players for the Tata IPL 2026 auction, scheduled to be held on 16 December in Abu Dhabi. A total of 350 players will be available for bidding in the auction, which is just a week away.
Among Indian players, Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi stand out as the only two cricketers listed in the highest base price category of ₹2 crore. This auction category also features many prominent international stars, making it a highly competitive event.
From a total of 1390 registered players, 350 have been shortlisted. The final list includes 240 Indian and 110 foreign players. Out of these, 112 players have international experience, while 224 uncapped Indian players and 14 uncapped foreign players are also part of the auction, providing a great opportunity for emerging talent.
The foreign player presence is strong, with cricketers from nine countries participating. England leads with 21 players, followed by Australia (19), New Zealand (16), South Africa (15), Sri Lanka (12), West Indies (9), Afghanistan (10), Bangladesh (7), and Ireland (1). Among Indian players, all-rounder Jalaj Saxena, aged 39, is the oldest, while Afghanistan’s Wahidullah Zadran, just over 18 years old, is the youngest player in the auction.
In the ₹2 crore base price category, 40 players have entered the fray. Besides Venkatesh Iyer and Ravi Bishnoi, international stars like Cameron Green, Steve Smith, David Miller, Quinton de Kock, Wanindu Hasaranga, Liam Livingstone, Matheesha Pathirana, Enrich Norhya, Jason Holder, Daryl Mitchell, Josh Inglis, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Naveen-ul-Haq are included.
Other base price categories of ₹1.5 crore and ₹1.25 crore also feature well-known players such as Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Matthew Short, Jhye Richardson, Finn Allen, Jonny Bairstow, Umesh Yadav, Rahul Chahar, and Charith Asalanka, who are likely to attract significant interest from franchises.
Players with base prices of ₹75 lakh and below include young and experienced Indian cricketers like Sarfaraz Khan, Prithvi Shaw, Deepak Hooda, Mayank Agarwal, Rahul Tripathi, Navdeep Saini, Chetan Sakariya, Kuldeep Sen, and Darshan Nalkande, all expected to be closely watched by teams.
All ten franchises will fill a total of 77 vacant slots in this auction, with 31 reserved for foreign players. The combined spending power of the teams amounts to ₹237.55 crore. Kolkata Knight Riders hold the largest purse with ₹64.3 crore, while Mumbai Indians have only ₹2.75 crore left.
